Alise Loebelsohn is an artist whose work is shaped by her professional experience. A Pratt Institute BFA graduate, she also studied in France and at the Art Students League in NYC. Early in her career, she painted murals in large institutions and industrial spaces, learning the importance of scale. Her first major project was a 132-foot mural on the Coney Island boardwalk. She later worked on Richard Haas’s large outdoor murals and stenciled the Old Executive Office Building at the White House. For 19 years, she painted NYC billboards as a member of the Sign Painters union. In 2000, Alise founded Pompeii Studios LLC, creating decorative art for commercial spaces, private homes, and landmarks like Bryant Park and the New York Public Library. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, including at The Other Art Fair and the Walter Wickiser Gallery. Alise lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
