Petra Meikle is an Australian visual artist recognised for her immersive ocean imagery. Through Studio Meikle, she extends her practice beyond the shoreline into the mineral core of the landscape. Ancient Terrain was developed through extensive field exploration across remote outback Australia. Walking riverbeds, studying fractured rock walls and exposed escarpments, Petra documents the earth’s own record of pressure, climate and transformation. These works are not fabricated compositions — they are fragments of geological history captured as they exist. The textures, tonal shifts and formations are the earth’s archive.
